Former IGD Board Chair and Leadership Council member confirmed by Senate
Seattle, WA / Washington, D.C. – In a statement released April 10, the Initiative for Global Development (IGD) congratulated former board chair and Leadership Council member Sally Jewell for her confirmation as Secretary of the Interior.
IGD noted that since 2004, Jewell has actively supported IGD’s work of engaging corporate leaders in driving catalytic, sustainable economic growth in the developing world.
“Secretary Jewel has been a great ambassador for IGD, engaging corporate leaders in dialogues about the role of business in international development, as well as speaking with U.S. policymakers to advocate for smarter U.S. foreign assistance to encourage economic growth at home and abroad. She is a proven, compassionate business leader who is deeply respected for her integrity and vision. We are sorry to see her leave our board, but our loss is the nation’s gain,” said Mark Green, IGD President and CEO.
Ms. Jewell served as IGD Board Chair from 2007 until March of 2011.
