The African Development Bank, supported by the Rockefeller Foundation and in collaboration with Initiative for Global Development (IGD) and Grow Africa, hosted its first high-level convening of Leadership4Agriculture (L4Ag) Forum on 28 November 2017 at the AfDB headquarters in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, to pave a way forward in spurring the continent’s agricultural transformation.

More than 150 public and private sector leaders gathered for dialogue, advocacy and policy action on the theme, “Leadership for Agriculture: From Policy to Action” . African Ministers from Cote d’Ivoire, the Republic of the Congo, Mali, Sierra Leone, Togo, Central African Republic, Seychelles, Ghana, Uganda, Gambia, and Chad attended the invitation-only forum.

Staunch leadership, strong political will, effective policy reforms, and robust public and private sector partnerships and investment are essential to driving the continent’s economic prosperity.

During the public-private action roundtable sessions, African high-level government officials and business leaders reviewed policy and sub-indicators from the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP) and brainstormed their aligned interests and achievable goals in reaching policy indicators.

The African Development Bank (AfDB) will host a dialogue between African Ministers of Agriculture and Finance with prominent African business leaders on Monday May 21, 2018 during its Annual Meetings in Busan, Korea. The side event will identify strategic ways to scale up agro-industrialization and agro-processing on the continent. This Leadership for Agriculture (L4Ag) event is part of a series of L4Ag Forums that are supported by the Rockefeller Foundation and led by the AfDB.

The Leadership4Agriculture Forum Outcomes Report provides insights and solutions from some of Africa’s leading agriculture and agribusiness champions in the public and private sectors on how to facilitate strategic engagement and policy action to drive Africa’s economic transformation.
