Promote the right conditions
Advance policies that enable economic growth

"Foreign assistance is not an end in itself. The purpose of aid must be to create the conditions where it is no longer needed – where we help build the capacity for transformational change in a society."
-President Barack Obama

IGD leverages business leadership to advocate for smarter, better coordinated U.S. foreign policies to maximize development impact. Sustainable growth in developing countries is squarely in the national interest and should be a high priority for U.S. foreign policy.

IGD works with the business community and policymakers to help form strategic partnerships that will enable stronger aid outcomes, trade expansion and economic development.

Policy priorities
Foreign aid reform - Take a business-like approach: Start with a clear strategy, emphasize results and invest for success

Trade for development - Make markets work for developing countries: Expand access, improve preference programs and build capacity

Investing in agriculture - Increase public and private investment in agricultural development
