Traditional monitoring and evaluation (M&E) approaches have not yet evolved to capture more sustainable development and market-systems based development. Over the past year, IGD has partnered with the Niger Delta Partnership Initiative (NDPI) Foundation and the Partnership Initiatives in the Niger Delta (PIND) to measure systemic changes resulting from value chain and business linkage development, peacebuilding, and development of the ecosystem and enabling environment in the region. We explored new methods that go beyond traditional M&E approaches. Ultimately, we’re developing a comprehensive, multidisciplinary, and innovative approach that incorporates measurement of behavioral changes, innovation diffusion, rate of adoption, and tipping points to reach scale. NDPI/ PIND is an initiative established by Chevron Corporation, an IGD Frontier Leader company. The Foundations are developing new solutions to economic and social challenges in the Niger Delta. Their partner-centric approach uses regional knowledge to understand the root causes of economic instability and forge community-owned, market-driven results.
Developing and sharing best practices for creating, maximizing, and measuring private sector impact is an integral part of IGD’s work. Our Advisory team of experts has developed a tailored and innovative approach to measure the level of impact and systemic change NDPI and PIND have created in the Niger Delta.
