Making Farming Cool: Dr. Dara Akala of the Foundation for Partnership Initiatives in the Niger Delta

Categories: Featured , Member News

For the latest episode of our “Making Farming Cool!” podcast, host Georges Collinet speaks with Dr. Dara Akala, executive director for the Foundation for Partnership Initiatives in the Niger Delta (PIND), about the organization’s innovative market-based approach and private sector solutions to develop and improve efficiencies in the cassava value chain in the Niger Delta in Nigeria.

PIND is a Nigerian non-profit organization that works to build partnerships for peace and equitable economic development in the Niger Delta.

In this podcast, Dr. Akala emphasizes how PIND’s ongoing cassava value chain project aims to create real gain for farmers, producers and processors of the cassava plant, one of Nigeria’s most powerful resources. Some of the project’s activities include partnering with companies to help farmers develop best practices in productivity and addressing the logistical hurdles involved for transporting cassava by linking small producers with commercial farmers.

Produced by Afropop Worldwide, the “Making Farming Cool!” podcast series is part of IGD’s Africa Investment Rising campaign, a dynamic multimedia campaign to change the narrative on doing business in Africa.
