How to Write the Perfect Job Advert

Did you know that around 72% of employers say they struggle to find skilled candidates to fill their advertised positions?

Finding the right candidate doesn’t start at the interview process; your job advert is actually a critical part of the hiring process. How can you hire a great candidate if the top talent isn’t applying?

If you’re part of the 72%, it’s time to look at your job adverts. Can you guarantee that they’re good enough to attract applicants that are in high demand? If not, you’ve come to the right place.

Read on to find out all about writing a job ad that’ll get results.

Write a Clear Job Description

Unclear job adverts are the bane of every hire’s existence. There’s nothing worse than being unsure what a job entails, what your responsibilities are, and who you’ll report to.

If your job advert isn’t clear, it sends alarm bells about the credibility and organization of your company. Thus, talented candidates will discard your posting and find a different job.

Outline Candidate Requirements

Make sure it’s clear what you require from your candidates. Of course, every hiring manager has to deal with a certain number of irrelevant applications – this can be significantly reduced by explicitly stating what skills and qualifications are needed for the role.

If possible, include an ‘essential’ and ‘desirable’ section to encourage the most high-quality applications.

Include Company Information

If you hire a recruitment agency, you’ll find the first thing they ask for is a brief company summary. You should also do this.

Remember, you want an employee that loves your company and brand just as much as the salary. Including information about company values, ethos, and culture will help draw in the applicants that want a career rather than a paycheck.

State the Compensation Package

At the end of the day, it comes down to salary for many people. It’s incredibly frustrating having to spend valuable time applying for a job, only to find out later that the pay is minimum wage.

As a responsible employer, you should be transparent about salary from the start.

Additionally, remember that your compensation package is about more than salary. Also include any other perks and benefits such as work-from-home opportunities, car allowance, pension, health insurance, lifestyle vouchers, and anything else your company offers employees.

Write an Exceptional Job Advert With These Tips

These few tips will help you write a job advert that will actually attract the best candidates. So, if you want productivity and profits to soar in 2022, it’s time to start putting some effort into your job ads.

If this all seems like too much, simply hire a recruitment agency to do the hard work for you. Either way, writing exceptional job adverts needs to be a 2022 business priority!
