The Top Four Things You Should Do to Improve Your Business Website

Beefing up your website can be one of the best things you can do, and it can definitely make a difference to how your visitors view your business – and whether they will decide to transact with you in the end. The website will often be the first aspect of your company potential clients will see, and if you pay attention to how it looks, works, and functions, then you will have a website that is a lot more effective. If your business website doesn’t seem to be as useful and efficient – or as successful – as you want it to be, here are the top four things you should do to improve it.

  • Create a blog – and reply

Most business websites will already have a blog, and there’s no denying that with your own blog, you can stay relevant in your niche and industry and also have a better reputation as an expert or specialist. But filling your blog with the right content is one thing – checking and replying to various comments is another.

Those comments are real individuals who are asking questions or are interested in what you are saying, so pay attention to those individuals. If a person visits a website blog and doesn’t see replies to comments, they may think that the site is dead. This is a bad impression in a nutshell. It is more daily maintenance, but your efforts will pay off, as confirmed by the experts in web design Oxford from Xist2. Additionally, search engines like sites that stay active. Those comments are essentially creating additional content for your site – and it pays to respond and even create a discussion around the topic, which can spur on more activity for your site.

  • Upgrade your plugins and software

Now that we’re on the topic of daily or regular maintenance, are you upgrading your plugins and software? Most of the websites running today will be running on software, and this will often have upgrades and updates, not only for the core of the software but also for the theme or design and the extensions or plugins. When you keep the software of your site updated, it will run more smoothly and quickly, and it also ensures better website security.

  • Don’t forget to add rich content

Rich content has been around for a while, but it has become more important in recent times. Once you tag specific content on your site as metadata, you are allowing more search engines to do something with it – and this even includes ‘voice’ search engines like Alexa and Siri. If you would like your site added as a result of a voice Internet search, then add microdata to your site. This makes more sense nowadays, especially since a lot more people are making use of voice searches.

  • Assess your site’s structure

If you want to be favourable to Google and give search engines what they want, structure your site in such a way that it is clean and organised. Your site’s structure, in other words, should make sense. For example, while you may already have a Home and About Us and Product/Service pages, you may want to make it more structured by dividing your About Us page into ‘Staff’ and ‘Our history.’ You can also create sub-pages for the Products page and separate them into Product A, B, C, and so on.
