Louis Otieno boasts over 30 years of experience in business as well as the ICT sphere and has worked for private companies such as Microsoft as well as for government led companies.

Louis Otieno Microsoft:

After spending time working in the US, Otieno returned to Africa in 1997 in order to spearhead Microsoft’s expansion across Africa. Particularly in West, East and Central Africa. During this period of expansion Otieno held multiple influential positions within Microsoft. Some examples being the Director For Marketing, the Director for Business Operations, the Director of the Enterprise Sales Groups and the General Manager for East and Southern Africa. As a result Otieno was one of the highest ranked African based directors at Microsoft.

4Afrika:

Otieno was the founding director of 4Africa a Microsoft led initiative which was launched in order to use ICT to accelerate its growth. On behalf of Microsoft Otieno worked with various African governments and regional organizations in order to develop new innovation led policies. Thanks to Otieno’s hard work and vision, 4Africa was a huge success.

Career mission:

Otieno has stated that his career’s primary mission is to ICT to help Africa thrive and compete on a global stage. Throughout his career Otieno has been outspoken about his wish for Africa to compete on the world stage, using ICT based initiatives and developments.

Mentorship:

Otieno currently mentors numerous young professionals in Africa. Some of the past individuals which Otieno has mentored have gone on to lead multinational ICT businesses and organizations across Africa. A testament to Otieno’s ability to unlock the natural abilities of young African men and women.

Roles in Kenya:

Some of the roles which Otieno has held within Kenya include working as the President for the American Chamber of Commerce in Kenya and serving on the boards of Kenya’s Vision 2030 and the Absa Bank of Kenya.

While Louis Otieno does boast over three decades of experience in the ICT world and the business world, Otieno has no plans of retiring in the near future and is still passionate about using ICT to promote African excellence.
