All About Boston Terriers

While you may be familiar with Boston Terriers adorable faces and quirky personalities, to discover everything that you need to know about Boston Terriers, simply continue reading. Especially if you plan on owning a Boston Terrier in the future or have recently adopted a Boston Terrier.

All About Boston Terriers:

They can make unusual noises:

Boston Terriers are prone to making unusual noises. For example, you may hear your dog snorting, wheezing or snuffling on a day to day basis. If you hear your dog making unusual nosies there’s no need to be immediately concerned. However, you can talk to your local vet about the noises which your dog makes at your next check up to make sure that your dog doesn’t have any respiratory issues. As Boston Terriers are also prone to developing respiratory conditions.

They love playing games:

Some of the games which your Boston Terrier will enjoy include fetch, hide and go seek, tug of war and tag. If you purchase a small hand held laser pointer, you can also train your dog to chase lasers around your lounge, for a bit of exercise.

They require weekly brushing:

Generally speaking, you should aim to brush your Boston Terrier’s coat throughly at least once per week. Be sure to pay particular attention to the base of your dog’s tail folds. Which should be kept clean at all times in order to prevent infections.

Clean your Boston Terrier’s ears twice a week:

Another way to prevent infections is to remember to clean your Boston Terrier’s ears twice a week.

They sometimes suffer from anxiety:

A large percentage of Boston Terriers suffer from anxiety such as separation anxiety. So try your best not to leave your Boston Terrier home alone for long, extended periods of time. If you work outside your home, you may want to leave your dog with a friend or family member who is home all day, while you’re at work. Alternatively, you may want to pay to send your dog to a doggy daycare so that they don’t get lonely while you’re at work.

It’s also a wise idea to plan road trips to dog friendly destinations, so that you won’t have to leave your dog at a kennel, when you’re in need of a well deserved vacation.

They make fast friends:

Boston Terriers have agreeable natures and will make fast friends with strangers. So don’t be surprised if they cozy up to your neighbors or are instantly friendly with individuals who you meet at your nearest dog park.

They love children:

Boston Terriers have a natural affinity with children and can be trusted with children of all ages. Although you may want to supervise young children with your Boston Terrier to ensure that they don’t get overly boisterous with your Boston Terrier.

In conclusion, if you’re interested in Boston Terriers as a dog breed, hopefully you now have a better idea of their temperament and how to take care of a Boston Terrier. Especially if you’re interested in owning your own Boston Terrier! To read more on topics like this, check out the blog category.
