Paul Hanrahan: Career Profile

Paul Hanrahan attended Harvard Business School:

Hanrahan graduated from the prestigious Harvard Business School with an MBA.

Hanrahan served in the United States Navy:

Prior to pursuing a civilian career in business, Hanrahan served the United States Navy, as a line officer on a nuclear submarine.

Hanrahan is currently on the board of two publicly listed companies:

Hanrahan sits on the board of Ingredion Inc, which is listed on the New York Stock Exchange and AquaVenture, which is also publicly listed on the New York Stock Exchange.

Hanrahan’s career with the AES Corporation:

Between 2002 and 2011 Hanrahan served as the CEO of the AES Corporation. An international power company which currently owns assets in over 30 countries and which employs over 30,000 individuals.

Hanrahan’s leadership role with Globaleq:

Hanrahan served as the CEO of Globaleq for almost two decades.

Hanrahan founded and sold a power focused investment company:

Hanrahan was the founder of American Capital Energy & Infrastructure. A company which he later sold for a sizeable profit.

Arnold Ekpe: Career Profile

Background:

Arnold Ekpe was born in Nigeria but has also spent time living and working in Cameroon. Ekpe received a bachelor’s degree of mechanical engineering from the University of Manchester. After which point, Ekpe earned a master’s degree from the Manchester Business School.

Ekpe’s career with Ecobank:

Arnold Ekpe served as the CEO of Ecobank from 1996 to 2001. After a brief break from his role as CEO, Ekpe once again served as Ecobank’s CEO for a second period from 2005 to 2012. Two of the highlights of Ekpe’s time with Ecobank he helped Ecobank through the economic recession of 2008 and helped Ecobank spread throughout Africa.

Career with Citibank:

Prior to being offered the role of CEO at Ecobank, Ekpe served as the vice president of the West/ South African corporate desk at Citibank. A role which would give Ekpe the experience which he would need to be offered the role of CEO of Ecobank.

Career with the United Bank for Africa:

Ekpe also held the role of CEO with the United Bank for Africa, for a short period between 2003 and 2005.
