Arnold Ekpe was born in Nigeria but has also spent time living and working in Cameroon. Ekpe received a bachelor’s degree of mechanical engineering from the University of Manchester. After which point, Ekpe earned a master’s degree from the Manchester Business School.
Ekpe’s career with Ecobank:
Arnold Ekpe served as the CEO of Ecobank from 1996 to 2001. After a brief break from his role as CEO, Ekpe once again served as Ecobank’s CEO for a second period from 2005 to 2012. Two of the highlights of Ekpe’s time with Ecobank he helped Ecobank through the economic recession of 2008 and helped Ecobank spread throughout Africa.
Career with Citibank:
Prior to being offered the role of CEO at Ecobank, Ekpe served as the vice president of the West/ South African corporate desk at Citibank. A role which would give Ekpe the experience which he would need to be offered the role of CEO of Ecobank.
